Spring in Austin means a number of different things. For instance, it's time to recover from SXSW! Hahaha. Chris and I always try to take part, if in a small way, in the music, film, and media festival. Usually this involves us taking advantage of the free Gaming Expo during the first weekend of the event. This year was especially cool. We got to check out a couple of vendors offering 3D printing/printers, virtual reality games, and a lot more. If you'd like to see photos and read about our experience, check out this album on my Google+ page.
Before I get into the very springy recipes I've found for you, I should also mention that I have started contributing to a website called All About Vegan Food. I will be developing recipes for them, one per month. My first submission is for Blueberry Vanilla Pops. They're a totally guilt-free treat made from blueberries, almond milk, and vanilla protein powder, with some secret ingredients. If you'd like to take a look, head on over to the recipe right here.

Recipes I've Found Online This Month
- Grilled Asparagus with Garlic-Habanero Sauce: This vegetarian recipe sounds absolutely wonderful. Substitute the honey with agave or "Bee Free Honee" if available near you. From +Jerry James Stone's website Cooking Stoned.
- Brussel Sprouts Fried Rice: From the Post Punk Kitchen, this recipe caught my eye when it went online at the end of February. Similar to the recipe mentioned above, this recipe has an Asian flair and would work well with additions like spring rolls or won tons.
- Lemon Kale Salad with Apple and Cranberry: From fellow Austin blogger Jennifer Price this recipe combines some of my favorite flavors! Kale with citrus is always a great combination. And put dried cranberries on anything and I'll love you forever.
- Soba Noodle Salad with Orange Cashew Sauce: This recipe has a creamy, gingery cashew sauce and combines this with blood oranges and cilantro. From +Andrew Olson at One Ingredient Chef.
- Miso Arugula Greens with Roasted Portobello: I have never made a miso based dressing but this one has me absolutely intrigued! Miso, lemon juice, and green onion sound lovely atop arugula and portobello mushrooms. From +Kristina Sloggett at Spa bettie.
- Raw, Sweet, Bread and Butter Overnight Pickles: Get ready for veggie burger season by making your own all-natural, no fuss pickles! Super easy and full of flavor.
- The Old-Fashioned Vermonter Cocktail: Spring is sugaring season in the northeast. I'm from New Hampshire and I adored seeing syrup farmers (lol!) putting out their collection buckets every spring. This recipe is simple but sounds so great. I might have to make one for myself this weekend!
Previous Lizz Delicious Recipes Great for Spring
- Lavender Earl Grey Iced Lattes: By itself, Earl Grey tea is excellent iced. Paired with agave nectar, soy cream, and lavender it's even better and more refreshing.
- Vegan Thin Mint Ice Cream: If you managed to snag some vegan Thin Mints from your local Girl Scout troop, you can turn them into a wonderful ice cream with this recipe.
- Easy Vegan Artichoke Frittata: One of my favorite recipes! An eggy tofu dish with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, and vegan cheese. Great for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.
My Most Popular Posts This Month
- Citrus Green Tea Sangria: Another awesomely refreshing party beverage suitable for spring and summer functions.
- Veganized Paula Deen Collard Greens: Her classic recipe made cruelty-free and healthier.
- Tofu Scramble Tacos with BBQ Collard Greens: An oil-free version of the classic vegan dish. Austin breakfast taco style.
