Hey, everyone! It's currently 10:30 AM and I'm spending a few hours this morning formulating a blogging attack plan. We got back from California one week ago today. After landing at ABIA on time at 7:30, we had to wait for our bags and the airport shuttle, try to figure out where our car was in a sea of vehicles, and then get through stop 'n go traffic for about 40 minutes because the highway was closed off. We didn't make it to pick up our pets (the cut off was 8:30) so we sleepily went out to dinner at Chuy's instead.
I spent Thursday morning getting my lovelies from the kennel. They were SO HAPPY to get out of there. Neither of them had been boarded before. Rusty was a popular guy with the staff (at least four people waved and said "Bye, Rusty!" on our way out) and Mia was just mortified with the experience. If you follow me on Twitter, you will have seen my updates about her being miserable and going to the vet because she refused to eat until Sunday afternoon. She was literally freaking out when she saw me and both of them clamored all over me for attention throughout the rest of the day.
Chris's mother came to visit the following day. We hit up the Vegan Yacht Friday night. I spent the rest of the weekend working. We went shopping Sunday afternoon when I got home. We brought Cathy (that's her name) to the Steeping Room. I tried the "Baked Tofu and Tempeh Bacon Sandwich" for the first time. This is Chris's standard. It was pretty good, but my plan for next time is to try the "Roasted Vegetable" with baked tofu instead of eggplant.
We went to Sur La Table for the first time while at the Domain. I had never stepped in any of their stores before. I always think of the skit from South Park and I guess that keeps me from giving it a chance. Ha ha ha. But I loved a lot of the stuff that they had on their shelves. As an example, I felt compelled to replace all of my spatulas with the paisley patterned silicon ones I found there, and to throw an awesome Fourth of July party using their patriotic themed supplies. Ah!
Tomorrow I will be sharing with you the experiences we had in California, starting with the day we went to the Artichoke Festival in Castroville.
Have an awesome day!
