The last time Chris and I went to California it was for her uncle's wedding in 2009. It was a family affair and we did a lot of things in groups. It was fun, and we did manage to squeeze in a few things to do on our own, like having dim sum at a restaurant in Chinatown and touring Alcatraz.
This time, we'll be staying with her grandmother and doing a lot of relaxing. The highlight of the trip will be a weekend excursion to Monterey. But here's what our plans look like right now.
Wednesday
Arrive! Do the very important task of getting groceries for things like making dinner for grandma and ensuring that we get a good start in the morning.
Thursday
Doing fun things in San Francisco! Visiting the deYoung Museum. Lunch in the city and other touristy things.
Friday
An independent movie at Chris's favorite old theater. Dinner at Lotus Cuisine of India.
Saturday
Getting in the car! Drive down the coast to Monterey. Stop in Santa Cruz. Do beachy and boardwalky things. Dinner at Hula's Island Grill in Monterey. Relaxation!
Sunday
Spend some time at the Artichoke Festival in Castroville. More beach time. Unplanned things!
Monday
Fish appreciation at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Driving back to grandma's. Taking g-ma out for New York style pizza.
Tuesday
A no-fuss day. Pack. Visit the Point Reyes Lighthouse. Fin.
Wednesday
Leave California. Sad.
I should mention that grandma doesn't have wifi so I won't be blogging while I'm away. I will most likely be sharing pictures on Twitter, so follow me over there for updates.
I'll see you later!
