Capital City Bakery emerged in 2011 at the Longhorn Food Court in Austin and has left customers spellbound ever since. The delightful and adorable trailer offers up desserts and sweet stuffs you have to experience to believe. From cupcakes to cookies to Italian sodas to fruity fruit pies, the ever changing menu is sure to please vegans year round.
In addition to offering cupcakes every day with flavors like "Strawberry Blonde," "Raspberry Blackout," and "Peanut Butter Crunch," each day also brings new surprises to the trailer's window. Recent goodies have included "Cherry Hand Pies," "Blackberry Chocolate Chip Cookies," "Peanut Butter Brownies," and "Apple Cinnamon Dessert Pizza." And let's not forget "Cinnamon Roll Saturday," where you can order a vegan cinnamon roll the size of your FACE with a dollop of soft and sweet, light and airy frosting on top. Quite possibly my favorite cinnamon roll ever. And it's only $3.50 which is like a fairy tale come true!
One of the things I like most about this place is that there always seems to be something new. And celebrating most holidays is made more festive by the themed cookies and cupcakes sold there. Chris has gifted me with custom cookies for Valentine's Day and Easter and she and I have both ordered birthday cakes through Capital City Bakery in the past. The pirate themed cake I ordered for hers last year was wonderful, and the Farm Sanctuary themed one Chris got for me this year was exquisite in both flavor and attention to detail. You can also expect great things every June when Vegan Pizza Day comes around!
But you shouldn't take just my word for it! Check out the instagram gallery just below and see for yourself just how many amazing treats Capital City Bakery has to offer! Warning, you will probably start drooling.
Currently, Capital City Bakery is open from 12-6 Tuesday through Saturday at 1110 E 12th Street, in the same lot as the Vegan Yacht. A brick and mortar store is also in the works, though no date has been provided for their opening.
