VMofo: Vegan- and Eco-friendly Jewelry

When it comes to jewelry, it's safe to assume that most things you'll find in a store are typically vegan. If it looks like leather, pearls, or bone, then they may not be, but glass and plastic beads and plain old metal don't require animal products or by-products to be produced. At least as far as my research has been able to tell.

There are, however, a few of brands that make jewelry specifically for vegans. I also included a couple of sustainable and eco-friendly companies as I feel these are also qualities that vegans appreciate..

  • Christy Robinson creates quirky yet cute items like kale shaped, flat metal pendants that say "I <3 Kale"
  • Design Specimen offers vintage looking metal items stamped with words and images like "Herbivore" and "Vegan"
  • Macfarland Designs creates amazingly beautiful traditional style jewelry from sustainable gems and recycled metals. A bit pricier, but the products would make fabulous engagement and wedding jewelry
  • Novica is a marketplace partnered with National Geographic that sells handcrafted items from a number of countries. Some of the jewelry items found there include hand carved wooden items. One of the artists I've found that makes particularly striking pieces is named Chandar. His current selections can be seen on his artist profile.

You can also find great used, recycled, and vintage jewelry on Etsy and at secondhand stores in your area.
